biostratigraphy of upper cretaceous deposits based on calcareous nannofossils in south-east of lar

Authors
abstract

in this research, calcareous nannofossils of the upper cretaceous deposits of the souteast lar have been investigated. the upper cretaceous deposits have a thickness of 173 meters and consist of thick layers of marl and marly limestone. for introducing calcareous nannofossil assemblages and biozones, 141 slides of the gurpi formation in southeast of lar area have been studies which led to identification of seven biozones. as a result of this study, 21 genera and 39 species of calcareous nannofossils were identified. based on identification of these biozones, the age of the gurpi formation is late early campanian to late maastrichtian in the studied section, that corresponding to calculites ovalis zone (cc19) to arkhangelskiella cymbiformis zone (cc25).

biostratigraphy of the cretaceous deposits based on calcareous nannofossils in shushud section (north birjand)

for biostratigraphic studies, based on calcareous nannofossils, a thickness of 480 meters of cretaceous deposits in shushud section (north birjand) has been measured and sampled. the studied section is composed of shale, marl, marine sandstone and sandy limestone. the shale and marl units were more suitable for sampling. according to taxonomical studies, 10 genera and 25 species in shushud sect...

Biostratigraphy and paleoecology of Cretaceous rocks based on calcareous nannofossil in Sarayan section, East Iran

Calcareous nannofossil assemblages recovered from a long, continuous section have been described from the Sarayan region in Lut Block in east Iran. The marine Upper Cretaceous sediments of this section yield medium diverse and well-preserved calcareous nannofossil assemblages. A structural analysis of Upper Cretaceous calcareous nannofloras has revealed 30 nannofossil species. A revised zonatio...

biostratigraphy of abtalkh formation based on calcareous nannofossils in eastern kopet-dagh basin, padeha stratigraphic section (south-east of mashhad)

the kopet-dagh basin extended in the north and north east of iran and consists of marine strata from middle jurassic to paleogene time. abtalkh formation is one of the thickest lithostratigraphic units of cretaceous in the kopet-dagh basin and is composed of light gray, green to bluish marl and silty marl. the abtalkh formation conformably overlies the marls and chalky limestones of the abderaz...

calcareous nannofossils biostratigraphy and paleoecology of the last layers related to eastern alborz cretaceous deposits in cheshmeh gholghol section

coccolithophores are important primary producers in the modern world ocean and were almost certainly important in the mesozoic oceans, prior to the evolution and rise of diatoms in the phytoplankton. calcareous nannofossils are abundant, planktonic, rapidly evolving and largely cosmopolitan, so they are a good tool for biostratigraphy and paleoecology studies especially in the cretaceous system...
